“ I have been exhibiting my work for just over 25 years.

A career as an illustrator/graphic designer before (and eventually concurrently) sustained a much needed creative outlet and a vital connection.

In those 25 years I have explored various ways of making and exhibiting my work and this has given me a practical knowledge of a creative process that is integral to the way I live my life.

The infinite complexity and beauty of the natural world will always be my source of inspiration and the wealth of art history and those artists I admire, a constant touchstone.

The new work exhibited at Art Roundhay Park is an ongoing approach to painting using common, everyday, illustrative symbols that repeat and resonate.

The accumulated layers of texture and clouds of colour conceal and reveal a surface history. There is a naive simplicity to the shapes used to form paintings that are intentionally decorative and meditative.

I have focused on those symbols that seem to create a personal mythology but are, in fact, shared by us all. As a culture we are immersed in the accumulated symbolism of our history - e.g. fairy-tales, myths, religion, poetry, literature, cinema etc.

I exhibit solely for the English Art Company and exclusively at Art Roundhay Park”.
