“A series of paintings in gouache and crayon inspired by the west coast of Scotland and, in particular, the coast around Applecross (Coillie Ghillie). Painted after a visit, I referred to basic pencil-line sketches and attempted to use the memory of place rather than too direct a reference to the topography of the area, letting the medium suggest the water and the never-ending sky.”
